Thank you for your interest in the OnRamp Fellowship

Legal hiring is picking up, and there are many organizations interested in hiring returners through the OnRamp Fellowship.

With that in mind, we are in the midst of launching a 2.0 version of OnRamp in October 2021 to provide the best experience possible for our employers, applicants, and fellows. Check back then for many new opportunities!

In the meantime, several law firms and legal departments are currently recruiting OnRamp candidates for Fellowship positions, including Salesforce, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Clifford Chance, Loeb & Loeb, Skadden, and Sidley.

The four founding Move the Needle Fund law firms — Eversheds Sutherland (US), Nixon Peabody, Orrick, and Stoel Rives — have made historic commitments to boosting diversity, equity, and inclusion, and they are also seeking OnRamp candidates for a number of Fellowship positions across the country.

Some of the current open roles include:

Clifford Chance — The New York office has an opening for an OnRamp candidate in the Firm's M&A Insurance group focusing on transactional risk insurance offerings. Experience in representation and warranty insurance work is a plus, but not a requirement. They are also seeking candidates for their Real Estate and Executive Compensation Groups in NY.

Stoel Rives — Stoel's Boise, Salt Lake City, Portland, and Seattle offices are seeking OnRamp candidates with 3-5 years of experience to join its Corporate and/or Corporate Financial Practice Groups. The ideal candidate will have experience in general corporate work, M&A, securities, debt and equity financing, fund formation and securities, and other business transactions. Many of Stoel's lawyers did not start their career as “traditional corporate associates” and their diverse perspectives are valued. You are encouraged to apply even if you don’t think you have deep experience in all of the activities typically associated with a corporate associate.

Orrick — They are seeking OnRamp candidates across all offices — Austin, Boston, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Silicon Valley, and Washington, D.C. — in their Private Investment Funds, Structured FInance, IP Licensing & Tech Transactions, Real Estate, Banking, Antitrust, Employment Law, and Capital Markets Groups.

Nixon Peabody — Nixon is excited to hire OnRamp candidates for all of their offices — Albany, Boston, Buffalo, Chicago, Long Island, Los Angeles, Manchester, New York, Providence, Rochester, San Francisco, Washington, D.C. — in their Real Estate, Community Development Finance, Patent Prosecution, ERISA, Government Investigations & White Collar, Affordable Housing, Environmental, Labor & Employment, IP, Global Finance, Trust & Estates, and Litigation Groups.

Eversheds Sutherland (US) — Eversheds is seeking candidates for their State & Local Tax, International & Federal Tax, Finance, Patent and Corporate Groups in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Houston, New York, Sacramento, San Diego, and Washington, D.C.

Loeb & Loeb — The New York and Chicago offices are looking for candidates in Real Estate, Corporate, Advanced Media & Technology, and Capital Markets.

PLEASE NOTE: To be considered for an OnRamp Fellowship at these organizations, you must submit an application through the program. Applications submitted through an organization's website will not be considered as part of the OnRamp program.

Thank you for your interest in applying for an OnRamp Fellowship position. Please see the following important eligbility information.
Lawyers who have at least three years of full-time, post-licensure legal experience at one or more mid-to-large organizations and have taken a hiatus from the profession for two or more years or have left the legal profession as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic are eligible to apply.  Law firm applicants must be licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction where they plan to apply for a Fellowship.  Legal department applicants can be licensed to practice law in any US jurisdiction.
If you meet these requirements, please proceed to the first step in the application process listed below.

Create a free Submittable account to start the application form. Creating an account, which includes setting up a username and password, will allow you to save and return to your application form as needed throughout the process.  The form will likely take 30-45 minutes to complete.  You will be asked for information on your schooling, work history, background, professional references, future career aspirations, and to submit a current resume.

Please note that you will be asked to provide the email addresses for two professional references when completing the application so we suggest you contact your potential references prior to beginning your application. We suggest including references who directly supervised you or worked with you in either paid or volunteer legal roles. Upon submission of your application, references will be automatically contacted and asked to complete a 5-minute survey which will be returned confidentially to the OnRamp Fellowship Director.

After you have submitted your application form, a Fellowship representative will contact you within two to three business days to confirm receipt of your completed application and inform you of next steps.

Overview of Next Steps & Important Notes:
(1)  This form is the first step in the OnRamp application process. Other steps include completing the online skills and writing assessments (US $175 fee for assessments paid by the applicant), as well as participating in one to two interview meetings.

Please note: The skills and writing assessments are an essential component of the application process; they provide us (and you) with in-depth information about your skills, so we can better understand your strengths.  You will receive a comprehensive multi-page report with your results as well as developmental tips to assist in your career development efforts.

(2)  Completing the application process does not guarantee an offer or employment with any of the organizations participating in the Fellowship.

(3)  Law firm applicants must be admitted to the state bar in the jurisdiction in which they are seeking a Fellowship position. Legal department applicants can be licensed to practice law in any jurisdiction.
